TURNING YOGI

he calmness was in the air and I was turning into a yogi ..
The atmosphere was serene and pious and the air is filled with the singing of abhangs.
Situated on the banks of  Indrayani River Alandi village is located 19 KM towards North from District head quarters Pune and 136 KM from State capital Mumbai.
Since ancient times, the village has been a shrine of Shiva as Siddheshwar, Lord of Spiritual Attainment. Today, the Alandi Jnanshewar temple is a major pilgrimage center, drawing hundreds of thousands of devotees on festival days. Alandi is also Popularly known as Devachi Alandi (God’s place) has samadhi and a temple of the Saint-poet Dynaeshwar.
pole with sculptures (1 of 1)I went to the sacred place with my parents who are devotes of Saint Dynaeshwar. while entering the premises which was the outer area of the temple, had a beautiful huge pole with big sculptures of birds and lion, at the bottom it has hug lions then eagle then peacock and then the pigeons.. I am yet to discover the mystery or mythology behind the the beautiful huge pole.
Then we came across big arches with tradition design with beautiful and bright yellow and red color, which was the path way towards the temple, surrounded with shops and villagers made me feel the freshness which we have lost in the city life. (photos added in the album)
old school method (1 of 1)There was one more things that amazed me and made remember the old days, villagers practicing  old school methods for day to day life .. for us which is now history .. such as a barber was shaving a person head with the old tool like knife ..(sorry don’t know the exact name for that) and that seriously amazed me.
Moving ahead crossing the market we finally reached the temple complex which has been built near the spot of Sant Dnyaneshwar’s samadhi. Over 700 years ago, Sant Dnyaneshwar took living samadhi here when he was just 21.
